How can I help you?
A couple of years ago I used to work on a design shop; it would have the most amazing customized and original things for the house and the office, they were a lot of items and I had to memorize them! It was my first experience in customer service and I was a little terrified because I consider myself an introverted person.
However, it started flowing: I would know everything about the store and I would try to convince and sell the right things for the right people. I learned how to manage people, and I think I know the reason why I end up adapting really fast: I have a heart of a server.
Since I have memory, I’ve always wanted to help in anything I could do: At home I would sneak and see the electricity bill and see if I had money to help; at school I would help my professors and I ended up tutoring my classmates.
I was passionate about, without closing the opportunity to help doing anything.
I love to help others, and anyone who knows me knows that well. And the essence of it is that it is better give than receive; and there’s no better example than Jesus.
You can never see giving someone as much as Him; if not, see it for yourself: He gave His life for people that put him on the situation that led to Jesus’ death; He will still see them with eyes of love, compassion and understanding, when He was the one bleeding until the last drop of blood went out from His body. His purpose? To serve His purpose on Earth, to give way more than He received.
People take years trying to understand the life of Jesus, when it was as simple as giving, of serving humankind without hesitation in His heart; He made the question “what can I do for you?” even no one was asking it, and still He gave.
One of my favorite aspects of Jesus is the one of a giver, which takes us to His essence: Love. He gave himself for love, He gave for love; and there is no better way to follow His steps that serving with no interest at all.
So let me ask you this: What can I do for you? How can I help you to see His love? How can you help others see Jesus in you?
Serve, help, love. Serve knowing you won’t get anything in exchange (although it is known a reward will be given up high). Help others in the little things as well as in the big; love without hesitation to your neighbor.
Let be guided by the fact that it will always be better give than receive, because you’ll be receiving more than you imagine when you give yourself to others as an act of Jesus love in their lives, in your life.
